iPhone XR Announced with LCD Display, Face Id and 6 Colour Options

Apple this week announced its three iphone models for this year 2018 they are the iphone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. The iPhone XR is however the cheapest of the three iPhone models released for this year with same processor as the other two but a different display an slightly different build.

Even though the iPhone XR shares a similar design language as the hone  with its edge to edge display and the top notch, there are actually a few differences. The iphone XR sports a 6.1-inch LCD display with a resolution of 828 x 1792 pixels. Apple calls the LCD display used in the XR 'Liquid Retina' and describes it as "the most advanced LCD display available on any smartphone.

The device is powered by the same A12 Bionic chipset used in the iPhone XS and XS Max. it is coupled with a 3GB RAM and it's available in three different storage options which are 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Apple has also opted for the slightly cheaper Aluminium frame for the iPhone XR instead of the more expensive stainless steel frame used in the XS and XS Max. The front and back however still remains glass.

In terms of camera, the iPhone XR features a single rear 12 Mega-Pixel camera with a f/1.8 wide angle lens with larger and deeper pixels for better low-light shots. Even though the phone has just one rear camera, you can still take portrait mode pictures with bokeh effect. The XR has a 7-megapixel front facing camera and also supports Face ID unlock.

Even though you can start pre-ordering the iPhone XS and XS Max today with shipping to begin next week September 21, you will however have to wait until October 19th before you can pre-order the iPhone XR. That's more than a month away from now and shipping won't commence until October 26th. The 64GB version of the XR starts at $749, the 128GB version starts at $799 while the 256GB version starts at $899.
